Today we look at how to say we don't have, or own, something.
In the following type of sentence, only the plural forms 'ā' and 'ō' are used, never tā and tō.
You need to decide whether the following statement is true or false. 'Kāore he pukapuka ā ngā ākonga' in English is 'The students have books'.
You need to decide whether the following statement is true or false. 'Kāore' used in conjunction with 'tā', 'tō', 'ā' or 'ō' shows how someone does not have or own something'.
You need to decide whether the following statement is true or false. 'Mere has no Christmas tree' in Māori is 'Kāore he rākau Kirihimete ā Mere'.
You need to decide whether the following statement is true or false. 'Kāore he whenua ō Māka rāua ko tana wahine' in Māori means 'Māka and her husband don't have a shop'.
You need to decide whether the following statement is true or false. 'I have no rugby ball' in Māori means 'Kāore āku pāoro whutupaoro'.
You need to decide whether the following statement is true or false. 'Kāore ōna whare' in English is 'He has no car'.
You need to decide whether the following statement is true or false. 'Kāore ā mātou moni' in English is 'We have no computer'.
